Many have been propaganda works, a few find faults within the nation; some inspire us to work to remove the flaws. All those films have addressed good or bad mainly on the face value. They either talk of poverty or corruption, but not many films haven’t shown the real ugly face that exists within the country. Last year Dev D was a revelation exposing the ugliness to some extent, But LSD has travel further beyond thereby exposing the filth & showing how we still live in denial.

The Plot of LSD is split into three stories each standing for Love, Sex & Betrayal. Its neatly written in terms of characters & dialogues and interwoven perfectly like a fabric. This doesn’t stop with the Screenplay alone the whole film is neatly interwoven in terms of the subtext too. The Script is so neatly written & aptly shot. The characters & the story have such an extent of reality that you never get a feel that it is a film for most parts. The rest parts feel cinematic only due the sarcasm .Moving away from the plot the subject handled is so delicate &bold. I can say it has never been addressed so openly in Indian cinema. The main theme is based on voyeurism & the dark side of an Indian man. If you don’t look in deep the movie it might look like porn, but credits to the director for taking up such bold issue for discussion. Apart from the main theme, issues like honor killings, the pathetic state of Indian cinema etc are discussed subtly. Even with the dose of sarcasm certain scenes might be gut wrenching, infact it has one the most violent sequences ever shot on Indian cinema. Moving to the techno side the shaky concept isn’t new its been in use since 80’s, but this film has further expanded the scope of shaky cam movies making use everything from handycams, surveillance cam to spy cams

As whole the film has excellence filled in acting, writing & all other departments, the issues have been talked bold, loud & clear. To conclude it I would say the film is way ahead of its time so watch it with a broad mind even if its doesn’t appeal come back after some years ,this will work wonderfully then.

Verdict: 4.5/5, must watch if you really want to know India completely

I feel good bloody good- revenge of the fallen

Dont get placed when your class percentage is less, especially when you have kicked the hell out the guys who got placed previously ......

or even worse don't be the only person to get placed in such situations .....

The Samurai

<img style="display:block; i do have an appreciable Long drive experience( "cbe-ooty-cbe" from "2 am to 6 am " being the highlight ) ..I managed to get my hands on a Yamaha RX 100 for a whole day after a long gap ...it doesn't have the big macho look & as the name suggests its just a mere 100 cc engine..There are bigger bikes than this in size & capacity , but i have felt that they were "external machines" .i.e . when you race @ 100+km/h you always feel that you ride on something but with Rx its like “you” are cruising by yourself the bike becomes a part of you , .. with rx there is no such thing as an external machine “it” becomes you .whatever the speed you have complete control..The bike also reminds me of samurais...The samurai or not big in size & strength..but they are the ultimate warriors who can any win hunk with their swiftness & control ....pulsar, apache ,karizma and many more macho bikes may come with time but only RX 100 will remain the "Ultimate Man Bike"

I feel good....bloody good

when your placement percentage springs up from 0 to 33 and when you can beat up someone till your fingers swell & the ugly

Here i am finally completing all the formal exams of UG life.. Surprisingly i don't feel much about it now, think it ill take a few days to realize ...The good part about the past week was i was able to watch a few films

First up zombieland---This is kind off a parody of zombie films ( much like shaun of the dead) "or" as some would call it a sub genre film....by this i don't mean a spoof movie -its better than that , the humor is creative & witty (its got one of the best celeb cameo appearances ) though its a horror parody it has a few interesting characters &e ven if gory zombie movies are not your candy you ill still find this to be entertaining

next up Inglorious basterds --if you are expecting a "pop cult" style flick like pulp fiction then i would say it won’t fulfill your need , but on the hand if you want to see a tarantino movie that’s more character driven ( which hasn’t been offered since reservoir dogs) then you ill be delighted...of all tarantino films i would say only this makes you "feel" for some characters ...but this doesn't mean that it doesn't have all the cool lines & violence you ill expect in tarantino films -its got loads of em ....and one of the remarkable things is the character of "Col. Hans Landa"--- its so well written & aptly played that you almost forget that its an anti Nazi film ( Christoph Waltz got the best actor award @ Cannes for it) .....if AMPAS has to get some respect then they ought give him a supporting actor norm at least

Next two are Indian Films kancheevaram & Firaaoq

Kancheevaram-- now i regret for missing it in "theater" ....much injustice has been done to this by us Indians...its one the very few films of our country that stand on par with other country films...its got very simple & predictable plot but the characterization & acting take it to a very high level ( reminds you good old satyajit Ray films ) ...its almost flawless ...one of the best Indian films i have seen & i would call it A MASTER PIECE

Firaq- nandita das debut as a director has been very good, unlike kancheepuram its got complex plot & deals much complex issues...its one the very few films which shows you the carnage of riots without single on screen violence ...overall very interesting film

Those were all the Good movies i saw

i did see a film called "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani"---its bad & its ugly
<img width='1' height='1' so i wouldn't have felt if the Indians didn't win the cup ..heck i would have even not worried were they knocked out in the super eights..but the manner in which they went down disappoints me ...they have been technically found-out and it was frustrating to watch that such talented youngsters couldn't even rectify their one single flaw even on the second chance...windies have brought back memoirs of ganguly(remember those countless short-pitched balls he received for over a year ages ago) ..their failure against windies could have been pardoned cos they banged the balls in suddenly and swiftly, but with England(with much slower bowlers) they should have definitively rectified that ,becos failures for a batsmen are acceptable but not on similar deliveries, this not only cost them the game but probably their cricketing future (when such talent like" raina" cant handle a short ball it really worries) ..also i find dhoni to be too defensive in his captaincy (sending yuvraj too late out of fear, and inexperienced jadeja up) along with his batting(which has become unsuitable even for tests),only consolation was bowlers have not been worked out by any team....final word loss in T20 is not a big thing(at least for me) , but unless the batsmen strengthen technically India are under a real threat in the tougher forms of the game....

The Horror The Horror

My intentions for the last one week was to watch some good Asian horror movies..Horror has been been surprisingly my favorite genre that's what pulled me into foreign movies (with Jurassic park starting it) ....Imo consider that action& horror are the toughest genres for any director to master .....surprisingly Asian movies(esply japan) have excelled in both ....

Have to regret that i have not seen a single film in the last week and hence this post is not about horror films.....this is primarily about the my personal horrors that prevented me from watching them..

to start of i had to travel to my native with only 2 days left for ashley placements to attend a function at my native..the reason was there was a function at my native in the village temple with occurs once in roughly a decade , btw i am a near atheist so i didn't travel there out of my divine passion , i went there to see all broken relatives and my childhood friends.....
now i did get to see many friends & relatives but the horror stuck in becos many were in a pitiful state, anyway to spend time with all i had to follow the so called "SAAMI OORVALAM "..now since this a voilent deity the ritual took place at night with all women & kids chased home...lights were put-out, vehicle stopped ...it began peacefully with Violent chants by the members from certain traditional families ..about 10 pm AADU BALI took place ok this was not unsettling as i have seen it prior..then as the march started chickens were killed &hurled all over (with one landing on me)..this was manageable ...unsettling started when pig piercing began ,the place was so crowded that i had to peep through the feet ,unfortunately the due to rescission they had gone for a small pig so it getting killed shook me..after this what happened really was the true horror in front of the temple next day a goat was bitten to death by the chosen men...good thing was it took place covered , but such sight in broad daylight was truly horror

apart from this i had the horror of being asked by strange people "do you know me?" since they were relatives i had a hard time pretending to know them ,some even embarrassed by asking my relation to them
after this then the next horror was that @ ashley i(strongly uninterested ) had chance to sit while many aspirants were not primarily due to the CGPA factor, after all that i had to write it else it may hurt them more , so wrote the test throughout the test i had a fear of getting qualified for the interview if i wrote the apps randomly , (i usually have a luck factor in such stuff) , anyway the people @ashley had better measures to tackle, so i was relieved

even after that it was sad too see how only few get selected out of many hard workers, failures even by hardworking guys induced a horror filled thought on my future..

ok i tried to escape all tat and relax myself in some net forums, there i had though time arguing with many racist aussies , hard to argue with such guys you may end up losing sanity momentarily ,overcoming all that i finally sat to watch Ringu before that as my ears were a heavy i tried to use an ear bud, but due to my hurry the sponge alone got stuck , so there was lying half deaf unable to watch a movie becos the doctor has advised me to keep my ear relaxed till 14th eve(note i watch movies@ home with only ear phones)......
anyway trying to my best to watch some cinematic horror too

<img width='1' height='1' bold;">Before you read this i want you to think about the most impressive trilogies say around five in cinema that you have witnessed....

Lord of the rings would be be the best for many i suppose, there is nothing wrong with it , i presume the list would have bourne, Godfather, scream , star wars original etc.......

THE thing i love about holidays is watching movies and during this time i decided to check out some satyajit ray movies...prior to this i had seen pather panchali only......i got to see the rest of the apu triogy, nayak, days & nights in the forest and last but not least Charulatha during last week .........

What do i infer from these -i was ignorant, i searched for perfectly crafted movies all around the world mainly in Kurosawa (japan), fellini& Bergman(Europe) Hitchcock,Kubrick(hollywood) ..but such potential masterpieces were available very nearer , lying ignored & devoid of respect

A little reminder about the trilogy stuff if you haven't listed "apu trilogy "then i say that you are missing a substantial amount of great cinema....

The apu trilogy doesn't have a complex plot nor crafty imagery the beauty lies in its simpleness, the characters are so real&authentic , its so well filmed that you almost live with the characters ..i wont go detail in to the plot because i may spoil it.....the apu trilogy is about the plight a bengali village boy called apu......

whats so striking is that ray pulled of such an artistic cinema(particularly the first one pather panchali) with almost zero movie exposure, he never knew how to write a screenplay, the cameraman was an ordinary stills photographer(but he pulled of a magical trainspotting scene which amazes you instantly), almost everything is a rookie's attempt but yet they have very little flaws........in aparajito ray does some excellent screen writing ,he replaces many melodramatic dialogues with alternate visuals which produce the similar effect .....Apur sanasr the third part has one of the best romantic moments ever captured on cinema with nil physical contact.......

About Nayak it has some terrific writings and is comparable to any of billy wilder's works....set in cinema industry it has excellent performances from sharmila tagore & uttam kumar....whats so striking is that its got a deep sexual under-tone but never feels awkward..also it gives very honest views about our indain film industry ,,,a bold film indeed..

i think days&night in the forest & Charlutha(best of ray IMO) need a seprate post.....i am planning to write a review on each detaily....

the sad fact about ray movies is that, many lie unattended & unpopular primarily because of Ignorance , so try your best to give Ray some Hope.......

Here i am overcoming months of laziness to finally post supposedly a valid article.Cricket and cinema are probably two things in India that everyone is capable of criticizing , in other terms everyone is allowed to criticize...so here i am following that safe path(if anyone by chance reads this please bear those typos)
i am a die-hard mumbai fan and was a strict rajasthan hater at first....but somehow the team suddenly earned my admiration.....this was probably a result of myself pondering about them after my sleep was robbed away by munaf patel (still amazes me how did he just gave one run in the ultimate over, he wouldn't even do that in a test match)...they are such an interesting side that i have deiced to post about them first in spite of being a mumbai supporter, these are some inferences i made out of their victories

Films like laggan, rocky and all those baseball , basketball flicks that Hollywood churns out always amazed me....because what they advocate is years of experience that a champion has can easily be knocked off by a hard working rookie ,plus some motivational bla-bla stuff(achieved in Hollywood by means of a lengthy speech, songs hither)....they look nice on screen but really are impossible practically ..............

And it has been proved that experience rocks many times...some compare India's victory (@june25 1983)to something like lagaan but tats really not a credible comparison cos the windies were having many players on the verge of retirement ,plus India also defeated them in the group stage..........
But i think rajasthan's achievements in both seasons of indicate more substantially that such philosophy is plausible ... IMO its more evident this year(2009 season) than their championship last time.....it may sound crazy(considered the fact that they made the lowest score in IPL) but look at the troubles they had, to start they were robbed off Watson(400 runs 10+wickets last time) &almost every "match- winner" is stripped the next game (kamran khan, amit singh)...but still they just mange against all-odds ..which clearly indicates that you can win with almost any side just out of pure will power& hard work ....

also in cinema that underdog always triumphs with a miracle i.e. a six of the last ball, a three pointer with zero seconds, a knock-out in the last round..this is where really cinema & sport tend to diverge...but yet rajasthan strangely have scripted success in such dramatic fashion mostly (6 runs to win with dada still at the crease and yet they pull out a tie, score 17 of the last over, bowl out mumbai with 4 runs to win)...and also they comeback quite cinematic (58 against rcb vs 200+ against kings) ....IMO this really makes their triumph sort of " life imitating art" stuff..

by the time i post this they would have lost to Delhi, but yet they will still be probably the side with best team spirit in IPL ....cheers to Warne for running a team that reminds us this

<img style="cursor: pointer;
